Lunch break Bible class
is held every Friday at noon. The class is currently studying 1 and 2
Kings. Participants can feel free to bring along their own bag lunch.
The church will provide beverages and desserts.
Adult
Bible class is held before Sunday worship at 9:00 am in the church
fellowship hall located in the basement. Participants in these classes enjoy
studying a certain theological topic, a book of the Bible, a key figure in
Scripture, or a historical event in church history. Participants are welcome
to join the class at anytime. Visitors are also welcome to attend these classes.
Sunday
Children’s Hour While the adults are in class children are invited to attend a children’s
hour in the basement nursery area. An instructor from the congregation will
lead the children each week in a brief review and lesson about the current
topic of study from the after school program or a lesson based on that Sunday's
Gospel.. The rest of the time the children will enjoy supervised activities,
music and play time.
Faith
Builders is a class specifically for adults who would like to learn
or review basic Christian teachings. Adults who are interested in becoming
members of Crown of Life but are not currently members of another Wisconsin
Evangelical Lutheran Synod congregation are asked to take this class to learn
what our church believes and teaches. This class is approximately 6 to 8 weeks
long and can be scheduled with Pastor Hoogervorst on an individual basis.
Youth
confirmation class is a two year course designed for 7th through
8th graders in our congregation. This class is a thorough study of the teachings
of Scripture and the Evangelical Lutheran church. After completing this class
the students will be invited to publicly profess their Christian faith through
the rite of confirmation and they will also be invited to attend the Lord’s
Supper. This class begins in the fall of each year and continues through May.
High school students who have not been confirmed may have the option of attending
the youth confirmation class or they may take the Faith Builders course listed
above with their parents. Please call the church to enroll your children.
Youth
Bible history is also a two year course designed for 5th and 6th
graders. In addition to Sunday school this Wednesday evening class gives this
age group a second chance each week to learn some more of the Bible's accounts.
This class also begins to introduce some of the theological terms and concepts
that they will learn in the youth confirmation class listed above. This class
begins in the fall of each year and continues through May. Please call
the church to enroll your children.
Faith
Focused Finances is
a 6-8 week study on personal finances in light of God’s Word. This course
provides practical advice and Biblical encouragement on how to be good managers
of all God has given us. The course will help God’s people aim their
treasure toward their Christ-centered mission. It will address our attitudes
toward money, God’s will for our use of money and his gracious promises
about our spiritual and physical care. The course will also help participants
formulate a spending plan based on their refreshed look at values and priorities,
reach short term and long term savings goals, form a plan for getting out
of debt and also give them advice for sticking to their goals. Each participating
family will need a workbook. The cost of the book is $10. However, the church
will be willing to provide the book free of charge to someone in need. The
course is open to anyone—both members of the congregation and the community.
Parents with teens and college age students should especially encourage their
kids to attend to learn these important financial lessons for life.
Special
seminars and presentations are held at Crown of Life from time to
time. Check the events page of this site often for information about upcoming
opportunities for Christian education.
The
after school program will again be offered during the 2010/2011
school year. This program is open to children in grades K-8. This program
is offered free of charge and will provide children with the opportunity to
hear lessons from God’s Word, participate in recreational activities
and receive homework help. Parents must register their children before they
may participate in the program. Please call the church office to receive a
detailed description of the program and registration forms or download that
same information here.
